Research on Preparation of Water Permeable Brick from Discarded Ceramics

  Water permeable brick with extra in permeability, high compressive strength was made successfully with discarded ceramics in this paper. The results showed that the addition amount of discarded ceramics is 60%, which promise prominent economic benefits and environment benefits. The performance and microstructure of the sample were tested by the advanced testing methods. The results showed that the optimal firing temperature of water permeable brick was at 1 100 ℃ for 1 h. The prepared water permeable brick has a compression strength of 48.9 MPa, a bending strength of 7.8 MPa and a permeation coefficient of 0.031 2 cm/s. This discarded ceramics could be recycled and become useful things. This not only solves the problem of environmental pollution, but also gets some economic and social profits.
